INDIA’S CHALLENGE in the women’s singles tennis at the Beijing Olympics came to an end as Sania Mirza retired in the first round. The top-ranked Indian tennis player pulled herself out of the women’s singles event while playing against Iveta Benesova of Czech Republic.
